At Sligo Wood Flooring we stock different types of Laminates, Solid Wood and Engineered wood floors. We also offering you a huge variety of Metal trims and Scotias. Metal trims prices starts from 7€, Scotias from 4€.

 Laminates

The main advantages of laminates are extensive decor range, low cost, durability,  easy installation and easy maintenance.

In terms of durability, laminates are one of the hardest wearing materials you can  put on your floor with warranties from 10 to 25 years; they stand up well to heavy  use which makes them ideal for areas with high traffic or homes with young or  large families.

Laminates are designed for easy installation - modern click systems have been  specifically developed for DIY installation.

If you prefer to use a qualified fitter, then expect to pay less than half the price of fitting a solid floor. Samples of Laminates can be found here.

Solid Floors

Solid floors provide the luxury of a true wooden floor. They are available in a wide range of decors, qualities and board widths. Solid hardwood floors come in a wide range of dimensions and styles, with each plank made of solid wood and milled from a single piece of timber.

Canadian Hardwoods. Canada is a traditional source of hardwoods and is considered to have the  best hardwood in the world. This is due primarily to the Canadian climate where extremes of  temperature and a short growing season cause the trees to grow slowly creating a very fine grain.  Added to this is Canada's long history in hardwood processing with high levels of quality control and  stringent conservation policies on reforestation.

European Oaks. Regarded by many as the ultimate luxury in hardwood flooring, European Oaks  come in wide planks, 125mm upwards. The boards also come in long lengths, typically one metre or  more.

Engineered Boards

Engineered boards, including semi-solids, consists of a number of layers of timber glued together crosswise on a timber backing with a hardwood veneer on the finished surface; low cost engineered boards generally have a plywood backing, more expensive boards may be hardwood the whole way through.

The main advantages of engineered boards are:

  * They give real hardwood finish at considerably less cost than full solids.

  * The crossply structure creates a very stable board for situations where there are significant variations in heat/humidity, again     making them particularly suitable for use with underfloor heating or in house which may be unoccupied for lengthy periods of     time such as holiday homes.

  * Because the boards are manufactured in plank form, they are easier to fit than full solid floors.

In the past, the range of decors and finishes for semi-solids was somewhat restricted as they only accounted for a small proportion of the overall flooring market. The increased use of underfloor heating has changed this dramatically and there is now a wide range of decor, widths and plank lengths available. Samples of Engineered Wood Floors can be found here.
